Sting, a hundred thousand in Naples too...

After the Milanese, the Neapolitans also got excited for Sting. One hundred thousand people applauded the former Police member on Sunday evening in Piazza Plebiscito, at the second stop of the Cornetto Free Music Festival. The 54-year-old singer had been absent from Naples for over twenty years. Joining him on stage were his usual musicians, Dominic Miller and Lyle Workman on guitars and Abe Laboriel on drums. The concert opened with "Message in a Bottle" and continued with "Synchronicity," "Walking on the Moon," and "Spirits."

A huge crowd for Sting in Naples...

Approximately 100,000 people gathered in Piazza Plebiscito in Naples to see Sting perform, a concert he hadn't performed in Naples for over 20 years. The occasion was the second stop of the "Cornetto Free Music Festival" concert.

At this Italian stop of the "Broken Music" European tour, Sting had alongside him on stage a powerful and essential supergroup of long-time collaborators: Dominic Miller and Lyle Workman on guitars and Abe Laboriel on drums. The English singer's setlist did not shy away from eliciting applause from the audience.

It opened with the historic "Message in a Bottle" and continued with "Synchronicity," "Walking on the Moon," and "Spirits." The Neapolitan audience was enthusiastic, demonstrating their particular warmth especially when the artist sang "Day in the Life," his Beatles song, "Fields of Gold," and "Magic." The concert closed with "Roxanne," which galvanized the crowd into demanding an encore.

Sting didn't need to be asked twice, performing four classic songs: "Desert Rose," "Every Breath," "Next to You," and, after leaving the stage and receiving a shout-out from the crowd, "Fragile." The now 54-year-old artist, following his son's performance, who opened the Neapolitan concert that same evening, thanked those present in Italian and expressed his love for the city.
